Pain Management Without Psychological Dependence: A Guide for Health Care Providers is a US Department of Health and Human Services publication that provides a research-based summary of non-opioid and opioid pain management; physical dependence, psychological dependence and pseudoaddiction; signs of inappropriate opioid abuse; recommendations for reducing the risk of opioid dependence; and what to do if you suspect opioid abuse.
